Steph Curry endorsed Drake’s new “Certified Lover Boy” album after one of the songs featured a mention about wife Ayesha Curry.
“How am I supposed to wife it? You not Ayesha enough,” Drake raps on the track, “Race My Mind” — alluding that Ayesha is the standard for a woman he’d settle down with.
Before the album dropped on Sept. 3, Curry re-tweeted a promotional tweet by Drake, and wrote “Congrats Bro!”
Meanwhile, Ayesha also seemed pleased with the shoutout. The cookbook author took to her Instagram Story to share Drake’s CLB track list, which includes features by JAY-Z, Travis Scott, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Kid Cudi and more.
It’s no surprise when artists name-drop athletes, celebs or other public figures in songs, and Drake’s longtime friendship with the Currys likely warranted a heads up before the album’s release.
Earlier this year, Drake and Curry made headlines when Warriors coach Steve Kerr recalled the time he fined the pair, along with Draymond Green for being late to arrive to the team plane. The NBA champions were tardy because they were hanging out at the arena still with the notable Raptors fan and ambassador.
In September 2020, Steph visited Drake in his native Toronto, where the pair played basketball together. Viral videos surfaced online and showed the two getting shots up at Drake’s OVO court.
In 2017, Drake hilariously impersonated Curry in a “Get Out” parody, which included an Ayesha impersonator, when he hosted the NBA Awards in New York City.
